Structure
Principal Holdings Limited (PHL) is the holding company of the Principal Group. It owns 100% of the regulated operating companies, Principal Investment Management Limited (PIM) and Border Asset Management Limited (BAM). Further information on the directors of PHL, PIM and BAM is available.
PHL is majority owned by Sanlam UK, which is ultimately owned by Sanlam Limited.
Sanlam UK acts as the umbrella company for Sanlam’s UK interests which comprise equity interests (ranging from 100% ownership to substantial minority holdings) in a number of complementary businesses operating within the UK financial services sector, namely:
- Principal Investment Management and Border Asset Management;
- Sanlam Private Wealth (financial advisers);
- Sanlam Investments & Pensions (life assurance);
- Nucleus (WRAP platform);
- Punter Southall (actuarial and other financial services);
- and Intrinsic (financial advisers).
