Hospice in the Weald
Hospice in the Weald is a charity local to our Sevenoaks office and an organisation that is close to the hearts of many of our staff. The Hospice provides palliative care advice and clinical support for people with life limiting illness, their families and the bereaved. We support the Hospice in many ways, including sponsoring and taking part in many of the enjoyable fundraising activities they organise.
The Bath Half Marathon
We have entered a team in the Bath Half Marathon for 5 years (2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2011), so far raising a huge total of some £28,000. The charities that have benefited are: Trust PA, Bath Cancer Unit, Hospice in the Weald, and Help for Heroes.
St Paul's Cathedral
We are a partner of the St Paul’s Cathedral Foundation, which is very close to our London office and at the heart of the City. Our contribution helps support the future of the building and we are delighted to support such a historic momument. (Image courtesy of Peter Smith, St Paul's Cathedral.)
Leaders of Tomorrow
Over the last few years we have developed a strong working relationship with Southwark’s Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) programme. During this time some of our people have worked very closely with the LOT, running interactive sessions on topics such as bank accounts, mortgages, credit cards, student loans and different types of investments, to help educate and motivate 14-19 year olds from disadvantaged backgrounds in Peckham.
Bath Music Festival
Bath has been attracting audiences for musical performances since the sixteenth century when Queen Elizabeth I visited the city to hear choristers at Bath Abbey. In recent years, Principal's clients have joined the audiences for concerts that we sponsor at the internationally renowned annual Bath Music Festival. After the concerts, we entertain our guests for lunch and they have an opportunity to remind us how fortunate we are to have an office in such a beautiful city.
This year we enjoyed performances by cellist Natalie Clein, on 26 May, and the flautist Emma Halnan, on 3 June.
Opera by Definition
2011 is our sixth year of supporting ‘opera by definition’, the Kent based opera company who put on a wide range of high quality opera productions. Last year, they received an award of support from Arts Council England for their production, The Magic Flute - a special adaptation for children. It was a wonderful show, enjoyed by the many local children who attended, and their parents! Click here to view images.
Sevenoaks Festival
Sevenoaks Summer Festival is a fantastic event running every summer, bringing famous names, music, culture, activities and education to Sevenoaks. People travel from all over the south to enjoy the festivities.
Bath Pigs/Lions
This is the second year that we have supported this unusual and fun way to raise money for charity. We purchase a near life size model of a lion (previously it was a pig) and commission a local artist to paint it. These lions are placed all around Bath and provide children and adults alike with great amusement, and are then auctioned off for charity. For pictures of our pig and lion, please click here.
Staff - sponsored events
Our staff put in a fantastic effort in helping other local and national charities by taking part in many fundraising events, such as the London Marathon, sponsored cycles, the Marie Curie Swimathon, In the Pink (breast cancer), Red Nose Day, the list goes on...
