Principal reaches the finals of the Marketing Excellence Awards

27/11/09

Principal Investment Management, the private client portfolio management specialist, has been chosen as one of the finalists for this year’s CIM (Chartered Institute of Marketing) Marketing Excellence Awards.

The 18 Award categories attracted hundreds of entries including those from such big names as ‘Barclays’, ‘KPMG’ and ‘Britannia – Co-operative Financial Services’, who join Principal to compete for the title of ‘Marketing Excellence Award Winner 2009 for Banking and Investment,’ at a red carpet event in London, on February 17th 2010.

Jon Fisher, Director of the Chartered Institute of Marketing comments “We were really pleased with the numbers of entries for the first year of our awards, especially in view of the economic background, but more importantly we were absolutely delighted with the reaction from our distinguished panel of judges who constantly told us how impressed they were with the overall standard of entries. Anyone reaching a final should be congratulated upon their achievement in face of very high standards of competition.”

The awards will be presented by comedian Hugh Dennis, of Mock the Week fame. They are designed to bring together the UK’s most dynamic and innovative businesses highlighting in particular their marketing excellence.

A leading panel of marketers and consultants will be judging the awards. For Principal these include: Jonathon Adams, Managing Consultant of Grass Roots; Adrian Coleman, Founding Partner of VCCP; and Colin Linton a Chartered Marketer.

When looking at the short list of finalists for the Banking and Investment category, the judges will be looking specifically for companies with a real understanding of their market combined with evidence of a business case that is innovative, original and creative in reaching this market and making a positive change for all involved.

Principal’s Sales and Marketing Director, Adrian Jewitt, commented: “It’s fantastic to be shortlisted for this highly competitive category. This is the first time we have been acknowledged as a recognised force in the marketing sphere – it’s a huge accolade and endorsement of our business growth, strategy and service.”

The company’s forward thinking business vision will most definitely attract the judges’ attention. Hugh Titcomb, Principal’s new CEO since April of this year, has significant plans for expansion which are already attracting new business streams.

Principal will be judged on its recent marketing campaign, called ‘Profitable know-how.’ This is a campaign that focuses on segmentation, and how segmentation is key for IFAs wanting to build their business with the high net worth market.

Adrian concludes: “Our ‘Profitable know-how’ campaign has been a real success. We are now working with over 20 IFAs on this initiative, providing insight and support where needed. Since the launch of this campaign, the team have generated a record number of client investment proposals (75 plus) in September and October. We have big ambitions for this company, and see marketing as the key ingredient to help deliver our plans. It’s brilliant to be acknowledged for our recent marketing achievements, and I expect to see many more award nominations to follow.”
