South East’s First Youth Group Production of ‘Footloose the Musical’ Launches

30/07/09

Thanks to the funding from local businesses and the hard work of Cheryl Baker and the Bullfrog Production team, this August The Stag Theatre, situated in Sevenoaks, will be running the first ever South East Youth Group production of ‘Footloose the Musical.’

The production, which Cheryl Baker is directing, and who incidentally starred in the production at the Novello Theatre in the West End, will be taking place on Friday 28 August and Saturday 29 August. Tickets are available from The Stag Box Office, 01732 450175, costing £10 (concessions £8).

On commenting on the forthcoming production Cheryl Baker said: “It’s going to be a great show. We’ve got a fantastic cast, including some very talented young performers. Myself and the rest of the Bullfrog team place a special importance on theatre for young people and making theatre arts available to all the community and giving them the chance to work alongside professionals. That’s why it’s been so great to open this production up to local young performers, where we will be running a two-week workshop for local 6-20 year olds ahead of the main show itself.

Cheryl continued: “Without the funding of local businesses this production simply wouldn’t be taking place. In particular with the summer workshops that we are running, even though many young local performers show outstanding ability in performing arts, many wouldn’t of been able to afford this summer activity. Thanks to businesses donating money to sponsor students, this has been possible.”

Indeed, many local businesses, Rotary Clubs and Charitable Organisations have kindly sponsored students to take part in this exciting project. Adrian Jewitt, the Sales and Marketing Director of Principal Investment Management, the private client portfolio management specialist, said: “It’s fantastic for the community. Being based in Sevenoaks ourselves we are always keen to support good local projects, which this most certainly is. We are proud to be sponsoring a couple of Cheryl’s students and look forward to the production in August, which I’m sure will be really good fun.”
